Fine Art Portraits
Jennifer Klementti opened her boutique Photography Studio in 2003 and has since attracted a discerning clientele from across Canada, the United States, Europe and New Zealand. In 2015 Jennifer moved her studio into a century home in the heart of downtown Barrie and beautifully renovated the building to create a unique and welcoming studio space. In the studio Jennifer photographs newborn, baby, child, maternity and family portraits.
Classic studio portraiture will never go out of style, whether we create portraits in black & white or in colour. The beauty of an in-studio portrait is in the simplicity of the image. A modern and minimal backdrop focuses all of our attention on the emotion and expression within the portrait.
For the first six years of her career Jennifer photographed all of her black & white portraits with film using a Mamiya 645 Medium Format Film Camera. She spent those first few years also custom printing her commissioned black & white fine art portraits in her studio darkroom.
The beauty of a black & white portrait is that it is truly timeless. When you combine the simplicity of a black & white portrait with thoughtful composition and a meticulous post production and printing process, the result is magical.
Jennifer made the transition to a fully digital studio in 2009 when she was confidant that we could produce an equally beautiful custom black & white print using a fully digital process. Her black & white custom prints are printed by a master printer on fine art archival pigment papers. This printing process amplifies detail, clarity and tonal range of the prints creating beautiful portraits that are truly works of art.
Jennifer has photographed our three boys each as babies and continues to photograph them as they grow. Jennifer creates stunning black and white portraits that truly capture their real personality. She is really wonderful with babies and kids. The kids love going to have their portraits done with Jennifer. We cherish the experience and we absolutely love our portraits and will treasure them forever.Chris & Patricia Harburn
Family & Children’s Portraits On Location
Photographing fine art portraits on location adds a whole layer of interest with colours, texture and light. Working mainly with natural light on location Jennifer creates portraits that inspire; portraits that capture the unique beauty of the location or environment where she is photographing.
The best time of day to photograph portraits outside is in those beautiful hours before sunset that is filled with gorgeous light. However, we sometimes book early morning portrait sessions when we are photographing families with babies or very young children as this will be the best time of day for them. Choosing the right location and time of day for that location is critical to creating a beautiful portrait. Photographing at your home or cottage also makes your portrait very personal.
Jennifer photographs portraits on location in Muskoka, Barrie, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Niagara and is available for portrait commissions across Canada and internationally. Jennifer is a well seasoned traveller and would love to travel to you to photograph your family portraits.
The goal for any portrait session is the creation of stunning art for display in your home and keepsakes that will last a lifetime.
Fine Art + Documentary Portraits
With documentary and fine art portraiture, we can capture the fleeting moments of childhood and the richness of our everyday life found in those ‘in-between’ moments that make our life’s story. Documentary photography captures the honesty in life and enables us to see and remember the subtleties of our existence. A day. An event. A moment in time. Photography helps to define our lives by encapsulating who we are, where we were and every detail that fades with memory. Through careful observation a great documentary photographer can create thoughtful compositions by being open to the energy and spontaneity of life.
The most memorable photographs are the ones that have strong emotion and that truly are a reflection on the human condition. The unposed, the real moments, the moments where we are truly just being. Being ourselves; living and loving life.
For Jennifer, these sessions are all about seeing the beauty in the every day. They are an opportunity to allow ourselves to slow down for a moment, and to be fully immersed in the moment. Our fine art + documentary sessions are customized for each client.
Jennifer’s love of documentary and fine art photography began with photographing in the streets of her travels through the United States, Mexico and Europe. Jennifer continues to travel for ongoing personal fine art and documentary projects.
Jennifer is available for fine art + documentary sessions across Canada and internationally.
