Lifestyle fashion photography for Token of Virtue, a Canadian luxury lifestyle apparel brand.
“Joy is the net of love by which you can catch souls.”
With each small batch collection, Janette, the owner and designer adds an inspirational message to each piece of clothing. I just love the above quote for the Joy Collection.
This shoot was in a downtown Barrie photography studio with beautiful light coming in from the front sliding glass garage doors. With all white walls and ceiling, I balanced the ambient light with artificial light using two of my Elinchrom studio lights. I also used a 4×8 foot V-Flat reflector panel to bounce both the natural and artificial light to produce soft lighting on the models and balance the highlights coming from the sunlight through the windows.
Seeing the light and knowing how to use that light for your photography is a skill that you can develop through shooting in all kinds of lighting scenarios.
Beauty is found in light.
Experimenting with both natural and artificial lighting or combining both is a great way to create visual interest, bring out texture and add dimension to your images.
As a brand and lifestyle photographer, I’m always chasing light whether I’m photographing people, spaces, food, fashion, or products.

There are still a few items in various sizes still available from the Token of Virtue Joy Collection, the Token of Virtue Love Collection as well as the Token of Virtue Enthusiasm Collection on Janette’s website. Each collection is made in small batches and is only offered until each item sells out.
One of the things that I absolutely love about these pieces is the inspirational message relevant to the collection that you’ll find located in various places on the pieces. There’s also a gold ‘token’ that is hand stitched near the left hip to serve as a reminder of the virture you are embodying.
