Hiking Themed Second Birthday Party
I am very excited to be featured on the OntoBaby.com blog, which is a fabulous blog about all things lovely for baby & mom. This blog features inspiring baby shower ideas, nursery designs, parties, products for mom & baby and great DIY projects, printables, portrait sessions and more. This charming blog is a wonderful resource for moms & moms-to-be, providing daily inspiration for moms as they prepare for or celebrate their new little ones. My daughter turned 2 earlier this year, and my husband & I wanted to put together a very special birthday party for her & her little friends. She loves the outdoors, and so we decided on the theme of “Go Hiking” for her birthday party. The colour inspiration came from some beautiful Japanese paper that I used in the decor which was graciously donated by Jennifer At The Paper Merchant in downtown Barrie. Her cute paperie boutique is a stone’s throw from my studio & is filled with all things paper…It is a gorgeous little shop in the heart of historic downtown Barrie.
My husband & I had a wonerful time with our DIY projects such as our little signs which we stamped with phrases that our daughter had begun to say such as “climb tall mountain”, “feed the birds” & “Mr. Moon way up high”. To keep the outdoorsy feeling we used natural items with an organic feel such as pine cones and branches. We also had a lot of fun in coming up with our kid friendly menu plan & the names for the foods that we served such as “Mr. Moon Marshmallow Dips”, “mmmmm…..cheesy”, “Dippity Dip”, “Birdy Cupcakes” and more.
The hit of the party for our daughter & her friends was the Treasure Hunt where they searched for “Tall Mountain Trail Mix” by matching a leaf on a handmade necklace to treasure markers. We also gave all of our little guests adorable little journals adorned with birds and flowers as well as rubber stamps and ink.
