Springtime is in the air…and I am looking forward to photographing family portraits outside again. I love photographing children, babies and families on location. One of my favourite locations is Sunnidale park in the north end of Barrie. This park is beautiful at all times of the year. I have photographed there during every season. In fact, my last portrait of 2015 was up at Sunnidale at 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve…and the day was simply gorgeous!
Here are some fine art portraits from early last summer at Sunnidale Park. I always love photographing kids on their own during family sessions. I think that it is important to also have individual portraits of your children. Beautiful soft greens and yellows from the long grasses make a stunning and simple backdrop for these natural outdoor portraits. One of the keys to creating beautiful fine art portraits on location is simplifying your background. The background should never distract from the portrait; it should enhance the image. In these portraits, I photographed with a shallow depth of field to blur out my background which blends the colours, textures and light into a very soft and beautiful background.
